State Donates $8,800 to Through Adopt-a-Family Campaign

Adopt-a-Family is one of our favorite holiday traditions at State. While we missed seeing the tree emptied of gift requests as the presents beneath the tree grew, we are glad we could find a way to continue the tradition online.

Through the generosity of our team and State’s match, we were able to donate $8,800 to assist families in need!

Our donations supported:
DAIS (Madison)
Hope House (Milwaukee)
St. Peter’s Catholic Church (Geneva)
House of Mercy (Beloit)

After receiving our gift, Tammie King-Johnson from House of Mercy send the message below:

“COVID-19 has created a pandemic on-top of what was already an epidemic for the homeless. Following the CDC’s shelter safety guidelines, we’ve had to reduce the number of people that can reside in our shelter facility to ensure proper social distancing to protect everyone’s health. Unfortunately, this has meant more people are needing to be placed in motels; especially with the cold weather and if they have underlying health issues putting them at a greater risk of contracting the virus.

Because of the cost of motels, we simply have not been able to keep up with the demand for shelter. State Collection Services funds will support the homeless in two ways this holiday season. First to purchase Christmas gifts for our Holiday Adopt-a-Family program and secondly to provide emergency motel vouchers for two families with small children who were living in their cars.”

Thank you to all who so generously contributed to help families have a brighter holiday season.
