More Than a Decade of Trusted Performance: State Earns HFMA Peer Review Recognition Again

HFMA, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Peer Review, 2026, Award, Recognition, State Collection Service

For 13 years, State has earned a place on HFMA’s Peer Review Short List. That kind of longevity matters because it reflects more than a single strong performance. It points to consistency, trust and a sustained commitment to delivering value for healthcare organizations and the patients they serve.

HFMA’s Peer Review process gives healthcare financial leaders an objective, third-party evaluation of solutions used across the industry. Its rigorous 11-step review examines effectiveness, quality, usability, value, pricing, and customer and technical support. Feedback comes from current customers, prospective buyers and industry experts, making the designation a meaningful measure of real-world performance.

“Earning HFMA’s Peer Review designation for more than a decade is a meaningful reflection of the trust our clients place in us,” said Tim Haag, CEO of State. “We are proud of this recognition, but even more proud of the work behind it—helping healthcare organizations improve financial results while treating every patient with empathy, respect and care.”

Technology with a Human Touch

Revenue cycle leaders are constantly balancing two priorities: improving recoveries and protecting the patient experience. State helps organizations do both by combining advanced technology with knowledgeable, empathetic people.

Patients can use convenient self-service and omnichannel options when they prefer to manage an account independently. When they need support, State representatives are there to answer questions, explain options and help move the conversation toward resolution.

We call this The State Experience: AI with a human touch.

That approach is designed to make the financial journey easier for patients while supporting stronger outcomes for providers. In HFMA’s Key Findings Report, 100% of respondents said State’s service was easy to use, reinforcing the importance of simplicity, accessibility and personalized communication.

A Recognition Built Over Time

Since 1949, State has been guided by ethics, integrity and innovation. Today, that commitment is reflected in the use of data analytics, speech analytics, ongoing employee training, flexible payment options and strong data-security practices.

Renewing the HFMA Peer Review designation is an important milestone, but it is also a reminder of what matters most: earning trust, delivering measurable results, and creating a better financial experience for patients.

State is proud of 13 years on the Short List—and grateful to the clients and team members who made it possible.
